Miss Marie-José Schunck

Original size 640 × 476 px

“Violinist at the Dutch Students Orchestra, Orange Hotel, Bergen aan Zee”
This letter of 6 January 1960 was sent to her by her violin teacher, Marcel Thijssens, who played in the Limburg Symphony Orchestra.
The content was the receipt for a violin that her father bought from him for Marie-José. Thijssens found that she had enough talent to become a professionl musician, but he also warned against it. “For it is a hard life.”
Because of problems with her right arm (due to overload?) nothing has emerged.
In Bergen the NSO has always rehearsed. According to Wikipedia, the program was in 1960 as follows below. Surprising is, that the Paukenschlag Symphony, also called Surprise Symphony, is Symphony #94, not #3. See links.
