Tom van Hilten was a student [1#1] and an office worker. [1#3]
He had evaded mandatory labor service in Germany, but was picked up in a raid in 1942 or 1943 and taken to Germany. [1#2]
After the war, the local administation of Geleen wrote to the OGS: However, he went into hiding and was later arrested by the "Landwacht". After first being incarcerated in the cells in Amsterdam, he came via the camp "Amersfoort" to the concentration camp Neuengamme, where he died on Feb. 24, 1945. [1#8]
The Landwacht was an auxiliary police force composed of Dutch National Socialists. [6]
