Frans Schadron was a civil servant. [1#3]
The SiPo-Maastricht led a more or less nomadic existence since early September 1944. During their stay in Maasniel in mid-September, Nitsch, Conrad and Fiebig shot three youthful residents of Sittard, F.J.A. Clemens, M.H.F.Schadron and F.M.C.M. Eijck, near the German border. The three had gone to the center of their hometown on September 18 to celebrate the liberation. At that time Sittard was not yet completely purged of Germans. [2]
On tracesofwar.nl, the sequence of events is described as follows:
In the evening they were arrested by a group of 30 German soldiers who were still present. The latter had heard that a soldier had been shot by civilians. The Germans arrested a total of 20 people, who were handed over to various authorities. Clemens and Co. had the misfortune to end up in the hands of the Sipo. They were shot by SD officers Nitsch, Conrad and Fiebig. Cammaert assumes that this happened on or around September 20, 1944. The following day, two German policemen reported that there were two dead and one seriously wounded man near the border. The latter was subsequently shot by Nitsch or Schut. The Oorlogsgravenstichting (Dutch War Graves Foundation) gives the date of death as September 23, 1944. [3]
There is no known grave for the three friends. [4]
