 26-12-1877 Den Helder      11-05-1942 Oranienburg (64)
- OD trial of Maastricht - Ordedienst (O.D.) -

Oorlogsgravenstichting

The Erelijst 1940-1945 (honor roll of the Dutch parliament) [1] lists him as a businessman; the oorlogsgravenstichting.nl, the Dutch foundation for war graves [5] is more precise: gasket manufacturer. But the photo (used everywhere, so also here) shows a man in uniform. Was this photo taken in the period of mobilization before the war? Many Dutch soldiers who were demobilized after the capitulation of the Dutch Army in May 1940 and did not want to accept this, organized themselves in the Ordedienst (O.D., Order Service). After the war, A. Hensums, the chief of police in Den Helder, wrote about him, “The person in question was arrested at the end of 1941 for his illegal activities.” [2]
Convicted in Maastricht in the First or Maastricht OD trial. The Book of the Dead Oranjehotel calls this trial the Zomer Trial, after one of the accused. [4]
Executed in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Oranienburg, on the same day as the other condemned.
