Good day!

Hi Arnold, my name is Andréa Schunck, I´m 32 years old, I live in Interlagos/São Paulo.
I´d like to know if we still have got relatives in Germany, I always wanted to know the origin of our family. I have got a news article that speaks on the immigration of some German families, but does not coincide with what you sent to Sebastião, we should get more information.
Down here in Brazil we have got a TV sender, TV Cultura, that transmitted a program on the German settling. I´m going to see if I can get this tape, because this type of report is sold by the sender.
I would like to receive messages on you and your family.

A strong hug of your "cousin",

Andréa

Bom dia !

Thank you for your email. I am happy that you sent it both in English and Portugese. Because these machine translations are not very good. But it works when I can read the original text, with the help of my little knowledge of the Portugese language.

You asked me to tell a bit about me and my family. I live in Belgium, near the frontier with Germany. In my village the majority speaks German, because before the Second World War it was Germany. But a big minority speaks French. Originally I come from Holland. But my grandfather came from this region. From Kettenis, a village near Eupen, nowadays the capital of the German speaking part of Belgium. When he was 2 years old, he and his parents moved to the mining town of Heerlen in Holland. It is the same region, but another country.

My village is called La Calamine. I have got two children. I am married, but I don't live with my wife in one house. We had too many problems, so we decided to separate. But fortunately we are still good friends. That's better for the children, too.

The names of my children are Jupp (=Joseph) and Toni. They are 18 and 16 years old.
