The fallen resistance people in Limburg

Michèle Kiesewetter was a policewoman who was murdered by the NSU. Her colleague Martin A., who was also shot, survived seriously injured. They were taking a break in their patrol car. It was the last murder committed by this gang. The connection between this murder and the NSU was only established when the service weapons of the two police officers were found in the gang’s mobile home.
While racist motives are obvious in the other murders, the motive here was the subject of much speculation. Initially, it was assumed that the terrorists were after the police weapons. This sounds unlikely, as weapons can be obtained more inconspicuously elsewhere.
In the meantime, however, it has become more likely that the murder of the policewoman was planned. [1]
The magazine “MDR Investigativ” and nd-aktuell.de also state that the BKA (Federal Criminal Police Office) may have overlooked the motive. [2][3]
This ball was set rolling by Martina Renner, member of the Bundestag for the left party Die Linke. She found a note in the investigation documents at the time. This possible connection was not investigated; for a long time, the procurement of weapons was considered the only possible motive for the crime.
However, Martina Renner found a witness statement in the NSU investigation files about an event organized by the NPD in the village of Lichtenhain on 18 March 2006 in the “Zur Bergbahn” restaurant. This event was terminated by the police and Ordnungsamt (public order office). The reason is said to have been Kiesewetter, who informed the police and public order office of the event while she was on vacation there. This was a year before she was murdered by the self-proclaimed “National Socialist Underground” (NSU) in Heilbronn. This café was owned at the time by a close friend of Beate Zschäpe and is only 1 kilometer from Oberweißbach, where Michèle Kiesewetter was from.
This would have given the NSU members and supposed perpetrators, Uwe Mundlos, Uwe Böhnhardt and presumably a third person, a motive for the murder of the police officer.
A pair of sweatpants in the perpetrators’ destroyed apartment with a trace of Kiesewetter’s blood was not worn by Böhnhardt and Mundlos, according to an expert report. However, the court paid no attention to that report, although Zschäpe could have been the third person in Heilbronn.
