Willy or Wim Kuypers was an electrician. The correct spelling of his surname is Kuypers and not Kuijpers. [1]
He fled to England via detours (Vichy part of France, Spain, Curaçao, New York) to join the Allies. There he met a girl, married her and she became pregnant. However, before their child William was born he was killed in action in a Mitchell FR141 as a Corporal Aircraft Gunner with the Dutch Squadron KM. 320, RAF [2] when the aircraft in which he was serving was shot down over Bourdon (dépt. Somme, Fr.).
His life story is told in a video on YouTube, in which his widow also has her say. Dutch and English (with subtitles). [3]
