Jean Gérard Marie Schutgens (Jean “Jerry?”)

 14-09-1894 Maastricht      02-03-1944 Maastricht (49)
- Maastricht -

Jean Schutgens was a journalist and reserve captain of the 3rd Reg.Inf., suddenly deceased, circumstances unknown, underground worker [1] or in other words: member of the resistance. [3]
He was also depot owner of a daily newspaper. [2]
He was buried in the municipal cemetery Oostermaas in Maastricht, grave 1st cl, P-26 [3].
He appears on the list of fallen resistance fighters with a Maastricht connection from maastrichtsegevelstenen.nl [4], but again without further information.
As you can see, there are still many unanswered questions.
For which newspaper was he a depot owner? What kind of resistance work did he do? Since he was a journalist and the owner of a newspaper, it is natural to think of the underground press. And under what circumstances was he arrested and/or died?

He is listed in the “Erelijst 1940-1945” (Honor Roll of the Dutch Parliament). [2]
