Tony van der Burgt was a track worker at the Dutch railroad, hence the memorial plaque at Hegelsom station, in the municipality of Horst a/d Maas, in the immediate vicinity of Sevenum.
Antonius van der Burgt was arrested during the church raid in Sevenum on October 8, 1944 and deported to Germany. From October 13, 1944 to December 13, 1944 he worked at the Gross-Mahner Achilles and Co. sugar factory. From 15.12.1944 to 28.05.1945 he was employed by the Reichswerke Hermann Göring AG. [1]
He died in camp 6, a former camp for civilian workers that was a kind of transit camp where he was assigned a workplace and camp accommodation. [2]
The official cause of death was "accidental gas poisoning". Burns and poisoning were a common cause of death in the Hermann Göring factories and during the hard work at the blast furnaces.
     [3]
His bidprentje (In Memoriam card) states the circumstances of his death as follows: The dearly departed was born in Deurne on August 8, 1889 and died in a fatal accident in Watenstedt (Germany) on January 28, 1945. [4]
The registry office of Salzgitter-Watenstedt wrote in his death certificate: the worker Antonius van der Burgt, Catholic, resident in Watenstedt-Salzgitter, borough of Watenstedt, camp 6, died on January 30, 1945 ... was found dead in the steelworks of Hütte. [5][6#12]
He was initially buried in Jammertal cemetery [7], grave IV-11-H and reburied in Kronenberg cemetery on September 3, 1951. [6#18]
His name appears on the Monument to Fallen Railway Personnel in Utrecht, on the Monument at Julianaplantsoen in Sevenum and on the plaque at Horst NS Station. [8][9]
The memorial plaque at the station also shows the gardener and track walker Peter Mathijs Leonard Derix [9], who was accidentally shot.
His wife and children are all now deceased. Some of his grandchildren have also passed away and those who are still alive have no or almost no active memories of him. [10]
Therefore, his remains have been reburied one last time because he is now related to all of us:

Reburied on the National Field of Honor in Loenen, grave  A-1122 [10]
