The fallen resistance people in Limburg
Jacob Lopes de Leaô Laguna was a factory manager and a reserve captain. He was one of the many demobilized Dutch soldiers who, after the surrender on May 10, 1940, would not and could not comply with the German requirement to stand aside, including the part of the OD that wanted more than just to fill the power vacuum during the liberation to come one day. He was arrested in the course of the Englandspiel (England game) [1] and thus became part of the espionage trial of the group around Hans Zomer, which in turn was part of the first OD trial.
While awaiting trial, he first was incarcerated in cell 663 in the Oranjehotel in Scheveningen, which was increasingly crowded. Then Amersfoort, and via the Oranjehotel to Maastricht. [2]
