Willem Antoine Marie Beaulen (Willy)

Willy Beaulen was an office clerk. As the Allies approached, he snuck through the lines and volunteered to the Americans. He was taken prisoner of war and forced to work by the Germans. While there, he was fatally struck by a shrapnel on the western bank of the Rhine near Bonn. [1]
The death certificate issued by the city of Bonn (see enlargement below) states as the place of his death Kölnstraße in Bonn, and that he lived in the neighboring municipality of Wesseling between Cologne and Bonn, which has been incorrectly transcribed by wiewaswie.nl as Wisseling. [2] That is presumably the location of the camp, in which he was confined. The Kölnstraße continues into Wesseling and was at that time called the Adolf-Hitler-Straße. And there was the Zwangsarbeitslager Reederei Braunkohle. [3]
Reburied in Maastricht on July 11, 1951, Oostermaas Municipal Cemetery, grave P 33. [4]
