Gonnie Boere is listed here as an NSB member, but that is mainly to make her easier to find. For the same reason she is listed here under the name Zeguers-Boere, because she is often called that. But her husband Zeguers became a prisoner of war in 1940, and she found employment as a black marketeer, a smuggler across the Belgian border, and a brothel madam for the Germans. Her betrayal probably served only her own advantage. For this, as the story shows, she was ready for anything. Because for Boere a luxurious life was very important, but a good conscience apparently less so.
Read in more detail on the page about the betrayal of Maastricht. [1]
She was friends with Max Strobel [2] of the SiPo Maastricht [3], because that suited her well. For the SiPo she played a double game and was responsible for the arrest of many resistance fighters because they trusted her. In May 1944, for example, more than 50 people were arrested. [4]
Seven people did not survive the war because of her treachery. [1][4]
Arrested in September 1944 in Maastricht, which had just been liberated. Read the article about her in the Limburgsch Dagblad of December 13, 1946. [5]
In 1947 she had to appear before the special court in Den Bosch, Maastricht Chamber. A death penalty was requested against her and she was sentenced to life imprisonment, according to Wikipedia, but was released early (exact date unknown). [6]
According to the Centraal Archief Bijzondere Rechtspleging, she was sentenced to 14 years in prison followed by preventive detention, [7] which actually amounts to the same thing.
