 10-02-1923 Venray      24-01-1945 Neuengamme (21)
- People in hiding - Venray -

Oorlogsgravenstichting

Because of his age (21), Arie had to work in Germany during the war at the Thomas printing company in Kempen, but went into hiding during a weekend vacation. On August 16, 1944, a class="red" href="verzetsmonument.php?lang=en&filTer=G1#2diensten">Berendsen’ A.K.D. command arrested him. According to Cammaert (chapter VI, p. 625) in Swalmen, but the family says it was near his hiding place in Castenray, municipality of Venray. See link below oorlogsgravenstichting.nl. On September 8, 1944 on transport to Neuengamme, with only Dutch and two Belgians. In 1952 he was buried near the big church in Venray. He seems to have been friends with Henny Oudenhoven, one year younger, because after the war both were wanted in one advertisement, see link oorlogsgravenstichting.
