Contrary to what had been planned, only one elementary school could participate in the entire celebration: the one in Sibbe. But how were they to travel? On foot was too far. Read more below the photos.

The adventure walk of the original program with 500 school children from grades 5 to 8 was to start on Sept. 13 at noon. An essential part of the program, also to involve the youth in the commemoration.
For this purpose it was discussed well in advance that the Valkenburg schools had to be informed in time to fit in their program.
The schools were only approached by the municipality after the summer vacations, in week 34, which was too late to adjust their school program. An essential part of our program was dropped but nevertheless we persevered. On Tuesday, September 9, the school from Sibbe contacted our chairman with 50 children.
The school wanted to spend the Friday afternoon commemorating in the center of Valkenburg. The working group had to arrange transportation.
Hans Otermans of the City Tour and his touristic road train was asked if he could pick up the 50 children at noon and bring them back at 2:30 pm.
But he first had to check the route where he could safely drive his double train with the children. After he looked at that, the agreement came on Thursday.
A price was agreed upon. An extra sponsor was not needed, it became a friend’s price. We as a working group are very grateful to him for that.
