A short report

h3>from Sibbe Elementary School

On Friday, September 13, we took part in the “80 Years of Liberation” Adventure Walk in Valkenburg with groups 5 to 8.

We were picked up by City Tour and taken to the Sint Nikolaaskirche..
(See Sibbe-Valkenburg and back thanks to the great cooperation of Hans Otermans)
There the children heard stories from Valkenburg residents and US veterans about their experiences during the war.

In addition, the book 80 Years Liberated was presented, for which some pupils and former pupils made drawings. They received the book at that occasion.

Finally, the children walked past 16 historical sites in Valkenburg, where they learned what it was like in September 1944.

The children learned that war is not a game and that peace cannot be taken for granted.
