To give content to it, we share this remarkable story.
After the convoy arrived at the market in Valkenburg, this lady came up to us and fell into our arms crying.
To this lady, we looked exactly the same as the liberators of 80 years ago.
A re-enactor from our group comforted her and listened to her impressive story. She experienced terrible things as a child during the occupation.
Being able to tell her story gave her enormous relief. We, in turn, were quite silent about what happened.
The war has left its traces and even 80 years later there are wounds that have not yet healed.
That too is a part of re-enactment.
