Riet Nijland:
Working Group PEACE: Wake at the peace flame… It is always special to witness people’s reactions. People who clearly look in another direction. People who seem to be in full conversation. People intently studying their cell phones. People who radiate that they don’t want to be addressed. And that too is all right!
There are also other reactions: people who are surprised to receive a flower to lay down at the peace memorial. “What a beautiful initiative of yours “. and ‘I like to participate for peace’ or ‘We cannot dwell on peace enough’. And many more heartfelt cries.
Also people who take the flower and continue on their way with it. A flower that is placed under the bicycle straps: “Then I can think about peace at home”!
And a nice conversation inspired by the Pax poster about the white and black dove:
good and evil, war and peace, someday or maybe never, far away and in our own hearts.
Nan van de Ruhr, Amigos do Brasil Foundation:
My experience of the peace vigil was very positive.
Beautiful and atmospheric the peace flame next to the church, nice gesture of handing over flowers, asking the people to have a peace wish of their own in mind. And there were some nice conversations.
