Abraham Cornelis van der Gronden came as a baby on November 6, 1897 from Dordrecht to Vlissingen, the birthplace of his mother, see civil registry card Vlissingen . On 29 May 1906 to Vaals, on 19 June 1917 to Houthem. 
Married 23 May 1922 in Houthem to Anna Maria Somers, born in Houthem. 
Already 1941, he started helping the first people in hiding, along with his brother of Gerrit J. van der Gronden, who was arrested on January 13, 1942. Since the beginning of 1943, he picked up Jewish children in Amsterdam and brought them to South Limburg. 
Together with Rector G.A. Wolf from Sibbe he helped to hide Jews and communists. In late 1943, they joined the L.O., sub-district Valkenburg.
After the war, he was police detective.
