Dear Arnold, are you still interested in developing the Schunck/Shunk family tree? I can give you information on the Shunks who live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (and there are a lot of them). Please let me know if you are interested. Contact me at I prefer correspondence in English, but I speak French as well.

Sara (Shunk) Maurer

Hi Sara, sure I'm interested! But I have to admit that I've got not too much time to update this site. There seem to be a lot of Shunks in the US, and I understand that their ancestors often wrote their names Schunck. What I'm interested in is to find out if there is any kind of relationship whatsoever between all these people, as my father said. He knew much more than I, but he died before I started to study these things.
Do you have any information on your ancestors before they left Europe? Sometimes people can tell the name of the ship they came with, but mostly they don't know where they came from before. But that's what makes it interesting when you want to know about the links between the old and the new world. But even if you don't have information of this kind: your information can be useful for others, so let me know!
You wrote you speak French as well. The name of the place where you've beeb born sounds French. Does that mean that it's been a French place?
