Servaas Soesman was son of Ambrosius Lasarus Soesman and Jetta (Henrietta) Hertogs. ⚭ Emma Horn,Berkelstraat 15, Valkenburg. They lived at Berkelstraat 15 in Valkenburg. [1]
Dochter Pauline Soesman runde het koosjere hotel Soesman in de Lindenlaan, waar ook synagogediensten werden gehouden. [2.1]

The deportation of the Valkenburg Jews took place in three waves: on August 25, 1942, November 11, 1942, and April 10, 1943. The couple was deported in the third wave. In Maastricht, it became apparent that Servaas was too weak to continue traveling. He was taken to the Jewish hospital there and died a month and a half later on May 26, 1943. [2.2]
Emma had already died then in Camp Vught, from where she was to be transported to one of the extermination camps in the east.
Jan “Jules” van Betuw had heard something different (source: a fellow prisoner): From Maastricht he was brought to Aachen, where Mr. Soesmann was separated and „removed”, as a 87 years old and ill person (and thus of no „value”). [3]
