Heinz was one of the young men from Valkenburg who either had German citizenship or were stateless and therefore had to fight as conscripts in the German army.
It was probably only after 1936 that Heinz Strube came to Sibbe with his mother, whose husband had been killed in the First World War. As a friend of the Meurders family in Pelerinstraat, he came one day in 1942 in German uniform to say goodbye to mother Meurders and her family. He says he has a premonition that he will not come home alive. [1.1]
Five soldiers with the name Heinz Strube were killed and 22 with the name Heinrich Strube. Many men with the first name Heinrich are also called Heinz. Without further information, we can only speculate who is the right one. [2]
