German soldiers march up the Cauberg in Valkenburg to occupy defenses in the village of Vilt, which they had built themselves. This should actually have been done by the male population, insofar as they had not gone into hiding or were in Germany for forced labor, but this was foiled by the resistance: the population register had "disappeared."
