During WW2, Lex Israëls [1] was in hiding with fake papers in the clothing factory De Molen in Heerlen, where Pierre Schunck had engaged him as his assistant. Because he lived in a hidden space within the factory, he barely had to take to the streets.
He met his wife Mien Leclou in Pierre Schunck’s company; they were married in Heerlen on October 13, 1945. [1.1]
He remained friends with the Schunck family until his death.
His last name is sometimes also spelled Israels.
His final resting place is in the Jewish Cemetery Muiderberg, Amsterdam. [1.1][2]
