The former municipality of Berg and Terblijt included, in addition to the village of Berg, the hamlets of Terblijt, Vilt and Geulhem.
Between April 1945 and March 1946, an internment camp for wrong Dutch people existed in the school of Vilt. That’s what Dutch people were called, who had collaborated with the Nazis. They had to work in a nearby gravel pit. From June 1946, the former Jesuit convent in Valkenburg was used for the internment of those ex-Aryans. They had to work in the coal mines. The treatment of the internees was not always correct.
The municipality was incorporated into Valkenburg-Houthem in 1982.
