1940-1945. The resistance in the dutch province of Limburg

Sibbe is located on the southern edge of the Geul valley. More than today, Sibbe was an agricultural village. As a result, there were quite a few people hiding with farmers. The two people below organized the care for those in hiding. During the liberation, parts of the Old Hickory Division moved through here, towards Valkenburg.
On March 12, 1945, an American B-24 Liberator crashed in Sibbe, after the plane had lost three engines and the entire crew had parachuted to safety. Limburg had long been liberated by then but World War II would not end throughout Europe until May 8. The crew (466th Bomb Group) led by pilot 1st Lieutenant Charles A. Felts carried out 17 combat missions until the capitulation of Germany, including the mission that ended in the crash at Sibbe. At the spot where the bomber crashed is a board in memory with a photo and the text:
