Until the surrender of the Dutch forces in May 1940, he was a “sergeant-telegraphist” in the Dutch Royal Navy. During the war he participated in obtaining intelligence data and built transmitting and receiving equipment himself. [1] This way he too became a victim of the Englandspiel. [2]
He was imprisoned in cell 338 of the Oranjehotel [3] from September 2, 1941 to March 1942. Presumably via camp Amersfoort he was taken to Maastricht where he had to appear before the „Feldgericht des kommandierenden Generals und Befehlshabers im Luftgau Holland“ [4], better known as OD trial, see link above.
He was sentenced to death and executed in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
He is on the memorial for radio amateurs on the grounds of KPN Broadcast Services in Hilversum. [5]
