- The clergy - Forced Labor - Initial resistance -

    After his priestly studies in Roermond, Martin Eurelings became parish vicar (assistant parish priest) in Nevers (F) [1].
    There he was arrested on January 19, 1942. [2]
    During World War II, he helped Dutch people who wanted to go to England, but was arrested and sentenced to 10 years of hard labor when his name was found on a list carried by such a Englandfarer. [3]

    File Oorlogsgravenstichting:
    After his arrest he was taken to Diez an der Lahn (D). There he fell ill (tuberculosis) and died in the hospital. [4#3]
    He is buried in Schimmert. [4#1][5]
